Man arrested on suspicion of drug driving after Shoreham accident

A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of drug driving following a four-car pile-up over the weekend.

Police first issued an appeal for witnesses into the accident on Saturday 9 July on Old Shoreham Road near the roundabout by the Amsterdam Inn Pub in Shoreham.

The force has now confirmed to The Argus that a man has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of a Class A drug and has been released pending investigation.

Four people were taken to hospital with minor to serious injuries, but none life-threatening.

A Sussex Police spokesman told The Argus: “Just before 5pm on Saturday 9 July, police responded to a four car collision at Old Shoreham Road, Shoreham.

“Four people were taken to the hospital with minor to serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

“The investigation is ongoing and anyone with any information that may assist officers in their investigation is asked to email Police at Collision.appeal@sussex.police.uk quoting serial number 1037 dated 09/07 Report. “A man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of a Class A drug and was released pending investigation.”
