A man tried to carry a gun and 48 rounds of ammunition into part of Walt Disney World – and slammed the rules as “stupid” when he was arrested.

Aaron Lopez, from Palm Beach, Fla., was caught trying to enter Disney Springs, a sprawling entertainment complex “with an eclectic mix of unique boutiques, one-of-a-kind restaurants and mind-blowing entertainment.”

The 35-year-old set off alarms when he walked through security sensors, initially only claiming to have a jackknife before telling security he was also carrying a Glock pistol.

He also had the ammunition and two magazines and was charged with carrying a concealed firearm, despite claims that he had a valid license.

Disney bans guns in all of its theme parks and properties, but Lopez said it’s his right to have the gun and the park’s rules are “stupid.”

The security guard who caught Lopez said: “I told him I would search his bag and he told me he had a jackknife in his pocket. I told him to show me the knife, then I said I had to search his bag. He hasn’t put it on the table at this point.

“Then he goes on to say, ‘Oh, here’s something other than a knife that I want to put back in my car.’ Then he immediately turned and walked away.”

Another cast member stopped Lopez and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office was called.

Lopez was escorted out of Orlando Park and arrested on May 27.

The arrest report states: “We checked the firearm for a serial number. None could be located. We were told by Lopez that the gun is a Glock clone and he needs to provide documentation to the state to assign a serial number.

“Aaron told me he held a valid gun license to carry and conceal guns, but could not be found in any law enforcement database.”

Similar incidents happen regularly at the resort, and two weeks before Lopez’s arrest, convicted felon Quincy Campbell, 33, of North Carolina, was arrested after security personnel found a gun in a bag hanging around his neck.

He said it belonged to his sister and got into an argument with the police.

In the final weeks of 2021, five people were arrested for carrying a number of handguns into the resort and claiming they forgot they were in their bags.

After his arrest, Lopez said he has never been in trouble with the law, has a good job and carries the gun for protection.

He added: “It doesn’t matter where I am. I always carry a gun with me. I can be at a restaurant, I can be at Disney. I do not care. I always carry a gun. Period. I don’t trust law enforcement…I don’t trust anyone.

“At the end of the day, it’s the second amendment. I can bring them in. The fact that Disney is a private place and they don’t allow it is kinda silly to me.”
