A man has been charged in connection with a knife robbery at a store.
Officials were responding to reports of a man storming into the co-op in Ifield Drive, Crawley, at around 8.20pm on Sunday evening and terrorizing workers before fleeing with two bottles of alcohol.
Craig Baker, 43, of no fixed address, appeared in Crawley Magistrates’ Court yesterday charged with robbery and possession of an offensive weapon in public.
He has since been remanded in custody to appear at Lewes Crown Court on December 14 for a pleading and pre-trial hearing.
Armed police and coroners were at the cooperative conducting an extensive search of the area.
The store was cordoned off for much of the evening.
A police spokesman confirmed that no one was physically injured in the robbery.
