A man who was cut in half after a tragic forklift accident has spoken out about how his faithful dog never leaves his side.
Loren Schauers, 20, was working in the forklift on a bridge when he fell 50 feet in September 2019, severed his arm and crushed his lower body.
His family faced the devastating decision of whether to ask the doctors to save him by cutting him in half and risking making Loren wish they hadn’t.
But when the construction worker was able to speak for himself later, he looked the doctors “dead in the eye” and asked for the life-saving operation.
Loren, from Great Falls, Montana, USA, has been living without his legs and right forearm for two years with the help of his devoted wife, Sabia Reiche, 23.

In a touching tribute to his dog Atlas, Loren revealed just how much his four-legged friend does for him at home, the Daily Star Reports.
Talking about the popular couple during a live stream youtube channel, Loren told his followers that Atlas was “crying because he sees I’m in pain.”
He continued, “Yeah it’s actually really cute, we should make a video of it, but yeah Atlas, whenever I’m in my wheelchair or not moving, he’ll be right there with me. He’s always right next to me.”

Loren turns to Atlas to say, “Ain’t that right buddy?”
Sabia, 23, whose last name is Loren, added, “As soon as Loren is out of bed, Atlas is like in protector mode, standing by his side like ‘this is my human.'”
In the video, the German shepherd wears a colorful bandana around his collar.
The pair explain that Atlas bolsters are about three fingers tall before smothering him with loving punches.
