A swimmer has been flown to hospital after getting into trouble off the Sussex coast.
Coastguard crews have been called to reports of a swimmer calling for help off Pagham Harbor on Friday afternoon.
Both lifeboats at Selsey searched the area along with a Coast Guard helicopter.
Rescue workers were assisted by the Littlehampton Coastguard Rescue Team to conduct a search of the coast.
The man was found lying on the beach after managing to find his own way back to shore.
He was conscious but exhausted and had swallowed a lot of seawater.
The swimmer was helicoptered to St Richard’s Hospital in Chichester.
Coast Guard crews have urged the public to call 999 and ask for the Coast Guard if there is an emergency out at sea, on the beach or along the coast.
