Man in his 20s dies after horrific collision between two cars in Clare as gardener calls for information

A man in his 20s has died following a collision between two cars this morning.

The collision happened on the outskirts of the village of Bodyke in Co Clare just before 6 a.m. today.

The driver of one of the cars, about 20 years old, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body was taken to the morgue at the University of Limerick Hospital.

R352 is currently closed between Bodyke and Ennis while gardai does the tests.

ONE Garda A spokesman said: “Gardai is currently at the scene of a fatal road traffic collision that occurred on the outskirts of the village of Bodyke in Co. Clare this morning, Wednesday January 12, 2022 at approximately 5:45 a.m.

“Two cars collided on R352. The driver of one vehicle, a man in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was taken to the morgue at University Hospital. Limerick.

“Road R352 between Bodyke and Ennis is currently closed while Forensic Collision Investigator Garda conducts a technical examination of the scene. Local diversions are being made.”

Police are now calling out any possibility of witnessing the tragedy on the road to come.

They said: “Gardaí is calling on witnesses to come forward and any passerby with video footage (including dash cams) is asked to provide this to them.”

DUBLIN CRASH

Separately, four people were taken to hospital yesterday following a collision between a car and an ambulance in Dublin.

The crash happened on the N11 road in South Dublin at around 16:30pm yesterday.

Two men in their 60s, a 20-year-old man and a 70-year-old woman, were both taken to St Vincent’s University Hospital for treatment.

The road has been reopened since then and police are investigating the vandalism.

A spokesman said: “Gardaí was at the scene of a road traffic collision between two cars and an ambulance, which occurred on the N11 at around 4:30pm on Tuesday 11 January 2022. .

“Three men, two in their 60s and one in their 20s and a woman in her 70s, were taken to St Vincent’s University Hospital for treatment of their injuries.”

They added: “The road has been reopened since then. Investigations are still ongoing.”
