Man splits opinion after being ‘pulled out of hotel without notice’ after ordering takeout

A MAN has split opinions after he was kicked out of a hotel after arguing over ordering a takeout to his room – even though the restaurant was closed.
His stunned wife went to Mumsnet, claiming staff had removed all of his belongings from the room without notice.
She wrote: “My partner was away for work and he stopped at the hotel. He has stopped at this hotel before and never had an issue.
“The other night he had a disagreement with an employee, nothing daring. Just a bit of a brawl with the manager telling my partner he could do a thing, and the employee said that he can’t.”
“So he went to work the next morning and everything seemed fine, he came back and found the staff member had entered his room and packed all his belongings into his travel bag and suitcase. him and move them out of the room. Is this legal?”
She added that her partner was “not the type” to cause a ruckus, saying he was there a month before Christmas where he realized that bar and restaurant were closed. twice a week.
She continued: “He asked if it was okay to take things in there because there were no tables and chairs in his room, which meant he ate in bed.
“They said no problem. He came back this week with a carry-on and the man who worked that night said he couldn’t have it in there.
“He questioned why, like he was allowed before and the manager agreed to it, and the guy who worked there basically said ‘because I said you can’t’. “
“The room was booked for four weeks and no one contacted him to explain what they were going to do or why.
“I find it quite alarming that staff members can come into your room and just walk over and take your stuff out without you even knowing it.”
People on Mumsnet were divided, with some shocked by the incident.
One wrote: “Wow, I didn’t know hotels didn’t like you to take out – learned something new today. Never had a problem as I’ve stayed at many hotels.”
Another said: “I will definitely contact the manager, just to find out what happened. Good luck.
Another less forgiving: “I’ll leave it as a ***** review on TripAdvisor then resolve to stay in better hotels in the future.”
Others didn’t believe he would be fired for something so small, with plenty of hotel staff squeezing in.
One said: “I work in a hotel. This wouldn’t have happened if there hadn’t been a lot of effort to contact guests first, by phone if they weren’t on site.
“And a guest that brings in lucrative repeat business that stays every 4 weeks will never be dismissed like this for something so small. There’s something your husband won’t tell you.”
Another agreed: “I work in a hotel, yes we can go into someone’s room and unpack someone’s things but this rarely happens.
“It also seemed to be a big reaction when he brought a takeout item to the facility (which also shocked me).”
Another woman shares her views after she complained that her boyfriend had promised her a “fun evening” – but took her to the Premier Inn.
And one flight attendant has revealed what she does every time she stays at a hotel to stay safe.
