The driver was so confused when he opened the letter

We all know that queasy feeling that comes with realizing you’ve been fined for speeding – but usually the only one to blame is yourself.

The situation was different for a man in Germany who opened the letter and found that another perpetrator was behind the wheel.

And the culprit was his little white dog.

The driver’s nephew told The dodo : “My first reaction was: ‘That can’t be true.’ I think my uncle was just as surprised.”

The letter was stamped with a £40 fine and the picture showed his dog looking ahead as he drove the car.

It wasn’t a prank

He confirmed that the picture was indeed real, but while it appeared the dog was driving the vehicle, it clearly wasn’t.

It turned out that the uncle was responsible for the bike and his dog rode next to him.

Just as they passed the traffic cam, the pup hopped onto his lap.

“Normally, the dog wears a special car seat belt for safety,” explains the nephew.

“That day my uncle forgot to put it on him and the dog came to cuddle him [as he was driving]. The funny thing is he was only on his lap for three seconds.”

But it was long enough to dab the dog.

His uncle could have challenged the speeding ticket because he had no proof it was him – but he went ahead and settled the fine himself.

“He paid for it,” said the nephew. “But I can’t tell you what the authorities thought.”

The dog cuddled him at that very moment

This pup isn’t the only one caught in the act – an impatient dog was caught ringing the doorbell to be let in.

Pooch Diamond, from Alaska, USA, was hilariously caught ringing her front doorbell.

Tired of waiting for her owners, she looks in the direction of the Vivint video camera and jumps up.

She presses the bell with her paw and sits back in front of the door, waiting for it to open.

When there is no answer, she jumps up again and keeps walking.

Her owner, Dorian Davis, said: “Unfortunately the camera didn’t catch us and let her in. She stood out there for a total of about a minute and a half.”
