Manchester United captain Harry Maguire was booed at Tuesday night’s game for England and has spoken for the first time since the 3-0 win over Ivory Coast.
Cristiano Ronaldo was seen by many as the rightful United skipper as Maguire has struggled for form this season. The Portuguese striker has worn the armband for the Red Devils before and at the time spoke about what it was like to lead such a prestigious club.
One person who could leave the door for United is Paul Pogba, who is yet to agree to a new contract and can leave for free at the end of the season. And former club juventus They have reportedly set their cap on what they are willing to pay the Frenchman.

Maguire’s international response
From the moment Harry Maguire’s name was read out at Wembley on Tuesday night, the fans in attendance made it clear they were unhappy with the United defender.
Maguire was booed before kick-off and then again early in the game, much to the dismay of his team-mates and manager Gareth Southgate. Both have defended the former leicester City defender who lobbied for him at post-match press conferences and on social media while Maguire remained silent on the matter.
However, he has now taken to social media himself to break his silence.
Comments from Ronaldo’s captain
Cristiano Ronaldo returned to Manchester United in the summer and immediately became one of the leaders in the dressing room.
Despite not being the team’s captain, there wasn’t much discussion at the time of his arrival about him taking the armband from Maguire. But as the season progressed and the results didn’t go as United had hoped, let alone Maguire’s dramatic drop in form, calls grew louder for Ronaldo to get up and grab the armband.
Ronaldo, who captained the Red Devils in 2008, spoke about what it meant on a personal level to be captain of United.
Pogba’s possible Juventus salary
Paul Pogba’s contract expires at the end of the season and the midfielder can join any team of his choice and United won’t receive a penny in transfer fees.
The club have put a new deal on the table but the Frenchman is yet to accept the terms as he weighs his next move. One team linked with the 28-year-old’s signing is his former club Juventus, who sold the midfielder to United for £89million in 2016 after four successful years together in Serie A. However, a return to Italy would mean a pay cut for Pogba.
It has been reported that the Italian club can only offer €10m salary despite not having to pay the world champions.
