Man Utd’s worst Premier League season ever

Manchester United’s hierarchy are reportedly confident that leaks in the dressing room will not be a problem that Erik ten Hag will struggle with next season.

Since his appointment shortly before Christmas, interim boss Ralf Rangnick has had to put up with many stories that have found their way into the press. It was a similar situation towards the end of his predecessor Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s reign but those at the top of the club are content it will not go ahead.

With Solskjaer’s time at the club cut short after a disastrous result streak that put United far out of the title race, Rangnick was brought in with the aim of stabilizing the ship but things have hardly panned out.

There wasn’t much of a ‘new managerial leap’ and even if results improved slightly initially, the level of performance from the Red Devils still left something to be desired. This was not helped by the fact that many details meant to be kept secret have found their way into the public domain.

There have been accusations against various players from fans on social media trying to find out who is behind the leaks. The National reports it won’t be an issue beyond this summer, which is very positive for new boss Ten Hag.

An internal investigation has been launched by the club and it appears they have found the culprit. It’s a boost for the Red Devils at a time when they desperately needed one, with a disastrous season with just one game to go and although United know the best they can do is qualify for the Europa League, they could still slip into the Europa Conference league places.

There has recently been renewed optimism at United’s Carrington training base after Ten Hag confirmed he was leaving Ajax and heading straight to Manchester before even thinking about taking a short summer break.

With United missing out on Champions League football for the fourth time in nine seasons, a flood of big-money signings are unlikely to come through the door, but Ten Hag is expected to strengthen in certain areas as many current first division team players are expected to leave.
