But whether United is safe or not Champions League football, a big summer is ahead.
The club is finally set to name a lasting successor Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at the end of the season – and it looks like United are also starting to tentatively outline their summer transfer business.
According to new reports, United are planning to refresh their attack in the summer, and both Lewandowski and Dembele have attracted the interest of the Old Trafford hierarchy.
A report from YOUNG indicates that United are considering an ambitious exchange for Lewandowski amid uncertainty over the Polish striker’s contract.
Bayern Munich have yet to open discussions with their potential striker over a new contract – despite the fact that Lewandowski has less than 18 months left to run on his current deal.
It is reported that Lewandowski is ‘surprised’ by the situation and is looking to clarify his future before the summer, with United ready to make a move should the striker leave the German giants.
The 33-year-old scored a deadly hat-trick in 10 minutes in Bayern’s bold 7-1 win over RB Salzburg on Tuesday night to take his tally to 42; This is the seventh year in a row that this old man has broken the 40-goal barrier.
United are also closely monitoring Dembele’s situation at Lyon, according to the Daily Mail.

Dembele has scored nine goals in 19 Ligue 1 games this season and boasts Champions League experience; something that United would fancy.
The veteran duo have been linked with a move away from Old Trafford in recent weeks and both missed the embarrassing 4-1 defeat on Sunday before City of Manchester.

But United’s struggles in the league could lead to him leaving the club before reaching the culmination of the two-year deal he signed last year.
While Ronaldo’s future is up in the air, Cavani’s situation looks much more concrete.
The Uruguayan star was ready to leave the club last summer before Solskjaer intervened to convince the 35-year-old to extend his stay at Manchester.
But Cavani has been hampered by injury and has struggled to replicate his form from last year, with Barcelona is said to be very interested in capturing veterans.
