Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani may sign real Madrid at the end of the season.

The Uruguayan’s contract at Old Trafford expires at the end of the season and Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti is reportedly keen to bring him to Spain. The striker is expected to be a backup for Karim Benzema after Los Blancos failed in their signing efforts Erling Haland.

It comes like Liverpool hammered United 4-0 at Anfield on Tuesday night thanks to goals from Luis Diaz, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane. And Reds fans paid a touching tribute to United striker Cristiano Ronaldo’s son, who tragically died in childbirth this week.

Liverpool tribute to Ronaldo

Liverpool fans put old rivalries aside for a brief moment to pay a touching tribute to Cristiano Ronaldo’s son when the two teams met at Anfield on Tuesday night.

The United striker – who was expecting twins with partner Georgina Rodriguez – confirmed on Monday his son had tragically died in childbirth but thankfully their daughter was safely born. And ahead of United First League In Tuesday’s clash against Liverpool, Reds fans organized a seventh-minute clap to honor Ronaldo’s son.

But in an incredibly touching moment, they took it a step further and burst into an impromptu chorus to the club’s cult song “You’ll Never Walk Alone.”

Anfield talking points

Liverpool defeated Manchester United 4-0 at Anfield on Tuesday night to show how far the Red Devils must go to become Premier League title contenders.

Ancelotti plans a nosedive

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has reportedly given the club his blessing to sign Manchester United forward Edinson Cavani.

The Uruguayan is set to leave the Old Trafford club when his contract expires at the end of the season and could be given the chance for a big move to the Bernabeu. Reports from Spain suggest he would take on a role as Karim Benzema’s back-up and could be targeted if Los Blancos fail to sign Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund – who is likely to join Manchester City.

But many other clubs are said to be interested in the striker, including Madrid’s bitter rival Barcelona.
