Man United striker Cristiano Ronaldo could miss his Premier League clash with Tottenham Hotspur after the Manchester derby was absent.
The United striker wasn’t even in the stands at the Etihad Stadium when United suffered an embarrassing 4-1 defeat to their bitter rivals on Sunday.
Reports have suggested that the superstar striker has flown back to his native Portugal after being ruled out due to injury.
And he has now held ‘challenging talks’ with his agent Jorge Mendes as he plots his exit from Old Trafford.
But Ronaldo will likely miss the game against Tottenham Hotspur with the same injury that kept him out last weekend.
It comes as United have suffered a blow in the hunt for their next often-direct boss.
This is Mirror Football’s latest Manchester United titles.
Manchester United have suffered a blow in the hunt for their next long-term manager.
Among those spearheading the job is former Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino.
But the Paris Saint-Germain boss may have indicated he would not be able to accept the manager’s job at Old Trafford if it were offered to him this summer.
Ronaldo’s ‘challenging talks’
Cristiano Ronaldo is said to have held challenger talks with his agent following his absence from Sunday’s Manchester derby.
The Portuguese striker did not even attend the derby with nasty opponents City of Manchester at Etihad Stadium on Sunday amid reports that he has been ruled out due to a hip flexor injury.
But contrasting reports suggest the striker has been dropped from the starting lineup by Ralf Rangnick.
And Ronaldo, who is represented by super agent Jorge Mendes, is now said to be looking to leave Old Trafford after becoming disillusioned with life at the club.
Ronaldo may miss Spurs draw
Cristiano Ronaldo could be ruled out of the match against Tottenham Hotspur as a similar injury kept him out of last weekend’s Manchester derby.
According to interim coach Ralf Rangnick, the striker has relapsed with a hip muscle injury that prevented him from playing against Aston Villa at the start of the season.
He then flew to Portugal ahead of the City game, returning to training at United’s Carrington Stadium on Tuesday with two bodyguards in tow.
The striker has now been assessed by the club’s experts ahead of their next game – and it looks like the initial verdict was not good.
