Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo seems to have made big changes following his side’s game against Brentford earlier this season.

The Red Devils secured a 3-0 win at Old Trafford in their final game of the season, followed by a 3-1 win at Brentford Community Stadium. January’s game was quite controversial for Ronaldo as he couldn’t hide his emotions when he was substituted in the 70th minute and his performance at Old Trafford shows how this game marks a change in the Portuguese superstar’s attitude this season triggered.

United booked Monday night’s 3-0 win thanks to goals Bruno Fernandes, Cristiano Ronaldo and Raphael Varane in a talking point-packed match. And Ralf Rangnick has revealed that new United boss Erik ten Hag has yet to pick up the phone to speak to him about what to expect at Old Trafford.

Brentford talking points

Old Trafford bid farewell to Ralf Rangnick as Manchester United celebrated a 3-0 win over Brentford in their final home game of the season.

Bruno Fernandes tumbled home in the ninth minute of the first set when he converted an Anthony Elanga cross. Cristiano Ronaldo was then bundled into the box by Rico Henry in the second half before sending the keeper the wrong way from the point.

And Raphael Varane then scored his first goal in a United shirt when he snapped in from Alex Telles’ corner. It was a game full of talking points, including Ronaldo’s incredible performance, Nemanja Matic and Juan Mata’s departure from Old Trafford and further protests against the Glazers’ ownership of the club.

Rangnick snub emerges

Erik ten Hag is yet to call Ralf Rangnick, acting manager at Manchester United, to discuss what to expect when he joins the club this summer.

A major squad overhaul is expected in the summer when Ten Hag takes charge and Rangnick moves into an adviser role at United. While the pair could work together at Old Trafford, Rangnick has revealed he has yet to speak to Ten Hag and “exchange opinions”.

But the interim United boss says he’s “pretty sure Ten Hag has my phone number” and is willing to chat whenever the Dutchman wants.

Ronaldo’s changed attitude

Cristiano Ronaldo appears to have changed his approach after being criticized by Ralf Rangnick following Manchester United’s win over Brentford earlier this season.

Ronaldo stormed off during the game at Brentford Community Stadium, snatching a jacket from a backroom staff member before throwing it on the floor while refusing to sit in the dugout after being lifted off. After the game, Rangnick criticized Ronaldo’s behavior, saying: “Obviously every manager wants things not to get too emotional and even in front of the TV cameras I don’t think that will be to anyone’s advantage.”

But his form has since suggested the United striker has followed interim manager Rangnick’s words.
