Van de Beek responds to appointment
Donny van de Beek has reacted to the news that Erik ten Hag is set to become Manchester United’s next manager.
The Ajax boss’ imminent arrival at Old Trafford was announced by the club on Thursday, meaning he is set to be reunited with Van de Beek, whom he has reached Champions League semi-final with in 2019. Ten Hag previously called United’s treatment of Van de Beek a “mortal sin” as the midfielder struggled for playing time at Old Trafford and made him lose it everton loaned until the end of the season.
And Van de Beek gave a thumbs-up when asked if he was excited about Ten Hag’s impending arrival at United.
McClaren wants to join
Steve McClaren is set to be announced as one of Erik ten Hag’s assistant coaches.
Ten Hag has agreed a deal to become the next United boss, writing a contract until 2025. Ten Hag’s assistant at Ajax Mitchell Van der Gaag will also join the club as part of the deal, and the Ajax boss is also keen to bring Steve McClaren back to the club as well.
McClaren was previously Sir Alex Ferguson’s assistant at Old Trafford between 1999 and 2001 and was part of the historic treble-winning campaign. And Ten Hag is hoping the former England manager will help him bring the club back to their former glory.
