Erik ten Hag will take over at Manchester United in the summer

Forlan sends Nunez a transfer message

The former Manchester United striker says his compatriot Darwin Nunez has “a lot of potential” and “could fit into the team”.

Nunez is expected to leave Portuguese club Benfica this summer after scoring 34 goals in all competitions this season. With some of Europe’s top sides all vying for a new centre-forward during the summer transfer window, the competition for the Uruguay international’s signature could be fierce, but United are said to be keen on signing the striker.

And now Forlan has said Nunez is a “very good player” and could be “spectacular” at United if the club are patient with him.

Garner could force his way into the first XI

James Garner could enter the mind of Erik ten Hag’s first-team after a stellar season in the Championship with Nottingham Forest.

Juan Mata, Jesse Lingard and Paul Pogba are all set to leave the Old Trafford team when their contracts expire this summer, while Nemanja Matic has already announced his intention to also leave the club at the end of the season. And that could present an opportunity for Garner, who has scored four goals in 39 games this season and has been compared to Michael Carrick by the former boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Garner is set to return to United this summer when Erik ten Hag arrives to start rebuilding the club and the midfielder could well expect to attract the attention of his new manager.
