Parts of Manchester Airport have been evacuated after a fire in the terminal was reported.

Firefighters were pictured at Terminal 1 departures as people took to social media demanding to know what was going on.

A fire truck was also photographed outside the building as desperate airmen asked for updates. Mirror Online have contacted Manchester Airport to confirm.

A flyer uploaded a video to Twitter of an alarm going off in the background.

A speakerphone can also be heard declaring that “an incident has occurred” requiring the “immediate evacuation” of the terminal.

They tweeted: “I have just been evacuated from an area of ​​T1 at Manchester Airport due to an incident. Hope everyone/everything is ok.”

Rescue workers, including a fire engine, are on site.

Another passenger tweeted: “What a joke. 1 hour to get through security in Manchester.

“As soon as I get through, will the area be evacuated due to a fire? No where is open and there is a line to get stuff from Smiths. #manchesterairport”

Another wrote: “@manairport What a joke…no other words could describe the absolutely traumatizing experience this airport is right now #Do it better“

They weren’t the only ones to criticize the lack of communication.

“Would have been nice if someone had the sanity to let people know what’s going on… bad order,” read a tweet from another.
