Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling as Barbie and Ken, the Heavy Metal Knitting Championships and the luxurious Power Brow

1. Tory hopeful Penny is the best of the flops

Clip of MP Penny Mordaunt doing belly flops on a reality TV show syringes resurfaced on TikTok this week as the Tory battle royale reached its climax.

Some mocked her, others cited it as a reason to support her. Rep. Bob Stewart said so times radio: “She did a belly smack … and then she went in and did it again, exactly the same thing. And I thought, my god, I never had the courage to do that again.”

While the belly flop may have picked up steam this week when it comes to politicians embarrassing themselves on reality TV, nothing will beat George Galloway pretending to be a cat Big Brother. An image that haunts me to this day.

2. Barbie’s boyfriend is “clearly going through a lot”

The hype surrounding Greta Gerwig’s upcoming Barbie movie continues to build faster than you can say Barbie Dream House. Pictures of Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling walking around in neon Lycra ensembles were catnip online. This week Gosling spoke about his character Ken Weekly entertainment.

“He has no money, he has no job, he has no car, he has no house. He’s going through some stuff.” Apparently concerned he might reveal too many plot points, the actor backtracked and got cryptic. “It’s not what you think it is, unless it is. And then you know what it is, but I don’t think it’s what you think it is. Wait, what are we talking about?” I have no idea.

3. A little light research pays off

This week, think of a New Yorker who left an oversized tulip-shaped lamp on the curb outside his home and invited strangers to take it for free.

A passer-by took a photo of the lamp and posted it online to ask if anyone was looking for a two-foot-long, bulbous geophyte lamp. The internet did its thing and soon revealed that the unwanted lamp was a vintage designer piece from the 1980s and was worth more than $4,000. Lesson here: Google anything before you kick it to the curb.

4. For those who are about to knit, salute you

I am happy to report that the Heavy Metal Knitting World Championship 2022 was a great success. The competition, as the name suggests, combines knitting and heavy metal. Organizers say that during the competition, which will be held in Finland, “craft and music will be brought together like never before”.

Why anyone decided to combine these two things I’ll never understand, but everyone seemed to have a blast. My only mistake is the name – surely Purl Jam would be more appropriate.

5. Forget bushy brows and channel Cher instead

This summer the bushy forehead is gone, the London evening standard was reported this week, and in its place is the ultimate “Luxe Power Brow,” which is basically about adding sequins, glue, and glitter to your brows. “Strass! Dripping Gold! Shaved slits! The look is bold and beautiful… flat out glamour,” the newspaper tells us.

There are many unrealistic standards of beauty out there but to master this all you have to do is channel cher going to the oscars in the 80’s / anyone attending the vip style awards during the celtic tiger cover your head in pvc glue and Then dip it in a vat of glitter. Easy.
