Marilyn Manson has reportedly taken legal action against his ex-girlfriend Evan Rachel Wood.
The Tainted Love singer, 53, alleges in a new lawsuit that his former partner conspired with her on-again, off-again girlfriend Illma Gore to commit fraud and conspire to loudly defame him page six.
In the complaint, filed Wednesday, Manson alleges the 34-year-old Frozen 2 actress is guilty of intentionally causing emotional distress, defamation, impersonation and violation of the Computer Data and Access Fraud Act.
Lawyers for the singer – real name Brian Hugh Warner – allegedly claim that her client’s ex-girlfriend never accused the singer of sexual abuse during their time together from 2006 to 2010.
They add that Ms Wood made no allegations against her former partner until 10 years after their split, when she met her “romantic partner again, again and again”, real name Ashley Gore, who they claim was a ” Grippers” understood that an organized attack on Warner – spearheaded by Wood’s own fabricated exposure of rape and abuse – could benefit both of them.
Mr Warner’s legal team allege that Ms Wood’s motivation for accusing her client of abuse was to “clear her reputation” of having a “wild past”.
They allege that Ms. Wood and Ms. Gore created a fake email address to make it appear that their client had sent “illegal pornography” and also allege that the couple provided checklists and scripts detailing certain acts of abuse to enable potential accusers to sue Mr. Warner.
The lawsuit also alleges that Ms. Wood and Ms. Gore gained access to the singer’s personal computer files and social media accounts and used his social security number without his permission.
On Thursday, March 3, Ms. Gore used her verified Twitter account to share several tweets.
In a tweet, she wrote, “Obviously my art and life have long been magnets for controversy, but these recent claims about me are horrific distortions of reality.”
In the legal documents, Mr. Warner accused his former fiancé and wife Gore of sending forged letters “attributed to a genuine federal agent and containing a forged signature and a forged phone number for that agent” warning his accusers not to to be in danger.
The complaint alleges that the FBI agent’s reference on the letter stated that she did not write or approve the note, and that she had no prior knowledge of its existence.
In 2018, Ms. Wood appeared before Congress to support the nationwide implementation of the Sexual Assault Survivors’ Bill of Rights Acts and recalled her own experience of abuse at the hands of an unnamed perpetrator.
In her testimony, the mother-of-one claimed that the abuse was physical, sexual and emotional and that she was subsequently diagnosed with complex post-traumatic stress disorder.
After speculation led many to believe Mr Warner was the culprit, a representative for the singer released a statement in November 2020, saying: “Unfortunately, we live in a time where people believe what they read on the internet , and are free to say whatever they want without any actual evidence.
“The impact can be catastrophic, and promoting information that is not fact-based is utterly irresponsible.”
In February 2021, Ms Wood named Mr Warner as her alleged abuser via her Instagram account, where four other women also made allegations against the singer.
Ms Wood will star in a new two-part HBO documentary about her allegations, due to premiere later this month.
In a preview for the project, titled Phoenix Rising, the actress claims Mr Warner allegedly injured her in 2007 while filming his Heart-Shaped Glasses music video, in which she starred.
“It’s not what I imagined,” she recalls in a clip from the documentary.
“We do things that weren’t what was suggested to me… we had discussed a simulated sex scene but once the cameras rolled he started really penetrating me.
“I never agreed to that. I’m a professional actress, I’ve been doing it my whole life. I have never been on such an unprofessional set in my life to this day.”
She adds in the preview: “It was a complete mess. I didn’t feel safe. Nobody took care of me. It was a really traumatizing experience shooting the video. I didn’t know how to defend myself or say no because I was conditioned and trained never to disagree, just to get through it.”
In a statement to The Guardian, Howard King, Mr Warner’s lawyer, said: “While HBO and the producers have been made aware of these serious misconduct, they have so far chosen to proceed without regard to the facts.
“But the evidence of Wood and Gore’s wrongdoing is irrefutable – and this lawsuit will hold them accountable.”
Ms Wood claims she was previously “terrified” of exposing her former fiancé’s alleged abuse.
Mr. Warner has consistently denied all allegations of abuse and misconduct attributed to him.
