Marjorie Taylor Greene: Ignore Trump News, God Has a Plan

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) is asking the Republican base to keep up the faith after Donald Trump’s third indictment.
The Georgian politician urged conservatives to ignore the news and trust in God’s plan as he appeared on far-right cable network Real America’s Voice to discuss the former president’s recent legal challenges.
“It’s worrying about what’s going to happen in our future, but I always have hope,” Greene said during an interview on Human Events with Jack Posobiec.
“It’s important that we put full trust and hope in God and not in everything we see in the headlines and not in everything we see in the news,” she continued.
“Our true hope must be in God. And Jesus Christ is my Savior,” Greene said. “And I know it’s yours too. And God has even bigger plans.”
She then shifted her focus to Trump supporters, telling Posobiec, “I believe in the American people too, Jack. I believe their power is far greater than mine. I’m just a member of Congress. But if the American people really feel like they want to make a difference, I really believe they can make it.”

Earlier in the interview, Greene discussed her plan to “defund Jack Smith’s special counsel with the support of Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.)”.
Smith led two separate US Justice Department investigations into Trump, which Republicans claim are politically motivated.
In June, Trump was indicted on 37 counts alleging misuse of government documents. Last week, Smith filed a replacement indictment, adding three more counts to Trump’s case.
Trump’s legal troubles grew yesterday as Smith filed charges in a separate case in Washington, DC. He is accused of attempting to overturn the 2020 presidential election and inciting the attack on the US Capitol on January 6, 2021.
Greene turned her anger on the FBI, telling Posobiec she refuses to “finance an armed government.”
“I will not vote to fund the FBI’s new headquarters,” she said. “I refuse to do that. I will not vote for any form of FBI and Justice Department funding for an armed government.”
“That’s the only power we have right now as Republicans to make a difference,” Greene continued. “I have to tell you, we don’t have many people with us.”
Greene announced their plan in a June tweet, in which she said, “I hope every one of my fellow Republicans will join me in slashing Smith’s office.”
So far, only Gaetz and Rep. Andy Biggs (Arizona Republican) appear to have publicly co-signed their effort.
