Mark Owen says Take That may start recording ninth album early next year

According to Mark Owen, Take That has discussed starting recording sessions for their ninth studio album in early 2023.

His group, now a trio following the departures of Robbie Williams and Jason Orange, released an album for the last time in 2017.

They also embarked on the most successful tour of 2019, marking their three decades together.

Owen told PA news agency that he looks forward to reuniting with Gary Barlow and Howard Donald in the studio soon.

When asked if he was writing the Take That documentary with his solo music, he said, “We talked. We have a movie coming out next year. And we were clear about a new record and when it will be and what kind of thing that will be.

“So those kinds of conversations are open and always part of the background. It’s always there in my head. I am always thinking.

“Hopefully we will go into the studio and write with the other boys.

“I can’t wait to be back in the studio with Gaz and Howard because it’s great to see them, but it’s also great to be in that environment and be around them – and write songs together. So I’m looking forward to all of us in the studio.

“We talked maybe starting early next year, going into the studio to start spending some time. So hopefully that will happen.”

Take That’s upcoming film will be called Greatest Days and stars comedian and actor Aisling Bea.

It will be based on the hit jukebox musical The Band and feature some of the pop group’s biggest hits including Greatest Day, Patience, Back For Good, A Million Love Songs and Shine.
