Mark Wright is said to have made ITV bosses crazy after he ditched a new reality show with a text message claiming he was “too busy” after just one day of filming.
The former TOWIE man seems to have left the bosses in ITV “angry” and “disappointed” after he pulled out of the upcoming sports reality TV show, The Games, via text message.
Mark signed up for the new show earlier this year and just days before being reported to be the ITV show boss, he was in Manchester on 15 February with Corrie’s Colson Smith, who is also starring, to fitness assessment and date of filming.
The TOWIE legend is said to be participating in the new show that will be hosted by Holly Willoughby and Freddie Flintoff.
The show will see 12 celebrities take part in a variety of sports and athletic competitions – six men and six women will take on challenges in an arena, swimming pool and gym.
Alex Scott will join the show as a follow-up reporter, while Chris Kamara will comment.
Mark, 35, filmed scenes for the show but later filmed the full 180 and stated he was “too busy to be in” in a short message, according to sources.
The staff at the channel are said to be “angry” because they currently have a big job editing Mark out of the behind-the-scenes and fitness assessments he filmed last Tuesday.
A source told Sun : “He was in great spirits for the day in Manchester but the next morning he seemed to have a change of heart.
“Mark’s reasoning was that he would basically be too busy to do it, which to some feels completely doubtful since he’s committed to acting.
“Those who worked on the show weren’t sure which was harder to swallow, the fact that he dropped out last minute or the fact that he decided to send a text instead of a phone call the first time around.”

The source explained that they were “disappointed” that it wasn’t what ITV expected of Mark.
The Olympics are scheduled to air later on ITV this year after it was pushed back two years because Coronavirus pandemic.
Mirror has contacted representatives for Mark and ITV for comment.
