MARK Zuckerberg designs up to four new “Metaverse Headsets” that take you into his virtual world.
That’s according to a new report that claims upcoming “meta glasses” will be like “a laptop for your face.”
It’s a series of connected virtual worlds for you to live and work in.
But a new report from The information claims that Meta is working on four headsets to be launched by 2024.
Late last year, Meta teased two upcoming Metaverse gadgets.
One was the Project Cambria VR headset and another was Nazare augmented reality goggles.
According to the new report, Project Cambria is scheduled for release in September.
This should be more powerful than the current Meta Quest 2.
Unknown sources say this headset will cost $799, which is far more expensive than the $299 Meta Quest 2.
The big advantage is likely to be a significantly higher resolution display, which will make reading small texts much easier.
The headset is described as being as fast as a “face Chromebook” – or as effective as a cheaper laptop.
And a successor to this device is expected to launch in 2024, codenamed “Funston.”
Two other versions of the Meta Quest headset are also named “Stinson” and “Cardiff” in the report.
These are expected to be launched in 2023 and 2024 respectively, but their exact characteristics remain unclear.
Finally, Meta’s Nazare smart glasses are set to launch in 2024 alongside another cheaper AR glasses called Hypernova.
Nazare is expected to walk alone while Hypernova is expected to bet on a smartphone to edit.
That means Meta is working on up to four virtual reality headsets and two augmented reality glasses to launch within the next two years.
Tech giant Facebook has already poured billions of dollars into building the “metaverse” — and recently promised to hire another 10,000 people to work on the project.
Billionaire Zuckerberg has previously revealed how you can live soon virtual facebook houses – an early stage of the metaverse.
And the Harvard dropout previously shared how he would like citizens to be able to metaverse earn their living in the virtual world.
Zuckerberg even opens a physical examination meta shop to help humans enter the metaverse.
But some have warned that the Metaverse could be dangerous for children and create a nightmare of sexual abuse.
Despite criticism, tech mogul Zuck has dubbed the metaverse “the next version of the internet.”
“It’s not about spending more time in front of screens. It’s about making the time we’re already spending better,” Zuckerberg, 37, said of his vision for the metaverse.
Speaking to journalists including The Sun, Facebook VR CEO Andrew Bosworth described the company’s bold vision.
“The Metaverse is a series of 3D virtual spaces where you can share immersive experiences with each other when you can’t be together,” Bosworth explained.
“What comes after the Internet? Instead of looking at a screen, you can immerse yourself in the experiences.
“You don’t have to experience it in VR. Most people will first experience it on screens they already have.”
