Mark Zuckerberg is stepping up the plan to bring EVERYONE into the metaverse – and you don’t even need a VR headset

TECH billionaire Mark Zuckerberg is stepping up his Metaverse mission so you don’t even need a VR headset to enter the virtual world.

The 38-year-old internet entrepreneur recently bought a major game development platform called Crayta so people can access the metaverse via Facebook.

Much of Zuckerberg’s Metaverse plan focused on transporting users into an immersive virtual world via VR headsets.

But the Facebook owner admits wearables aren’t possible or desirable for some.

“Today, people often think of the metaverse as 3D experiences that you can have in virtual and augmented reality,” he said.

“But I think what Crayta shows is that you can really easily create and enjoy these types of experiences in all types of 2D environments, including just within the Facebook app on phones and computers.”

The Facebook founder is so spearheading the move to the Metaverse that he rebranded his company to Meta last year.

His crazy vision is that we will all eventually work, play and socialize in the evolving virtual world.

Gaming was the basis for much of the idea, as it already allowed people to explore online spaces as avatars and led the way in VR for some time.

Meta – which owns Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp – has also announced that it is expanding its catalog of cloud games on Facebook Gaming to Western Europe, including Crayta.

The move will prepare the Zuckerberg empire for the massive infrastructure needed to pull through the metaverse.

Crayta’s British studio Unit 2 Games was bought by the tech giant a year ago.

The virtual build platform was already available on Google Stadia and the Epic Games Store.

“We are excited to launch our Crayta social world and game building environment on Facebook Gaming,” said Zuckerberg.

“With our cloud streaming technology, it’s really fast to build on both mobile and desktop, even if you don’t have a powerful system.

“I recently hopped over to Crayta with some talented developers to talk about the future of gaming while building Meta’s iconic Hacker Square.”
