MARK Zuckerberg had some pretty unflattering nicknames in his time, but one used by his associates may be their sinister yet.
The 37-year-old Facebook founder has revealed workers call him ‘The Eye of Sauron’.
Who knows them Lord of the rings will know it well as a dark symbol.
In the films with Elijah Wood and Sir Ian McKellenit was depicted as a large flaming eyeball floating in the air.
Despite the grim comparison, it’s apparently “done with love.”
Talking to Podcaster Tim Ferris Recently, the meta owner said the name came about because of his tireless thirst for work.
“Maybe I’m not strong-willed or calm enough to just meditate straight ahead,” he explained.
“I actually have to put myself in a situation where it’s hard not to focus on this thing.”
He continued: “Some of the people I work with in the company – they say that affectionately – but I think they sometimes refer to my attention as the Eye of Sauron.
“You have this infinite amount of energy to work on something and if you focus that on a specific team, you’re just going to burn it up.”
The Eye of Sauron – also known as the Great Eye – was a symbol used by the Dark Lord in the Third Age.
According to the legend of Lord of the Rings, few are able to endure his terrible gaze.
In the films, it sits atop the Dark Tower – also known as Barad-dûr.
A spin-off series called The Rings of Power will be broadcast on Amazon Prime Video in September.
