Married at first sight George Roberts from the UK settling into married life

A divorced father has won hearts after appearing on the latest series of a popular Channel 4 dating show.

Married at First Sight is a self-proclaimed social experiment in which singles paired with experts marry complete strangers whom they meet for the first time on their wedding day.

George Roberts, 40, couldn’t believe his luck when he found out he’d married Miss Great Britain 2020.

But it wasn’t happily ever after his troubled honeymoon when his new wife kissed another woman.

George is a financial adviser and business owner from Worcester who previously attended Malvern College and also played for Malvern Rugby Club.

And his wife April is a dress designer from Hampshire.

The couple has not had an easy ride thus far, after Roberts was heartbroken to find out his wife had kissed someone else on their honeymoon.

However, the pair are trying to get over what has happened and seem to be enjoying each other’s company.

Throughout the show, the couples have the opportunity to meet at dinner parties and get to know their partners through a series of challenges.

A statement on Channel 4’s website said: “Father of four, George is generous, loyal and committed to his children.

“After divorcing his wife, George is struggling to find that special someone to share his life with.

“He loves his life in the country and lives with his two eldest children while his two younger daughters live with their mother.

“George is happy with everything in his life, but something is missing – he’s hoping the relationship professionals can fix that for him.

“A true old-fashioned romantic, George was heartbroken when his relationship with his wife collapsed. He wants someone who inspires him, someone who keeps him on his toes and who can be emotionally open.”

This year’s season premiered on Monday 29th August and brought 16 singles together in their search for true love.

New episodes will air every day at 9pm and TV fans will be happy to know that this year the show will have an extended run of 30 episodes.

The experts returning for the new series will be Mel Schilling and Paul C. Brunson
