Martin Compston has revealed that he drew inspiration from Dermot O’Leary for his famous Line Of Duty role.
The actor – currently starring in the new ITV series Our House alongside Tuppence Middleton – plays Steve Arnott in the hit BBC drama series alongside Vicky McClure as Kate Fleming and Adrian Dunbar as Ted Hastings.
While ditching his native Scottish accent for his role in Line Of Duty, he admits it can be a struggle to try and perfect his English accent for the popular BBC show – and because So he turned to Dermot to help him get the right voice.

“I can tell in those moments I was really stressed out with certain words and looking back I think my performance was pretty lackluster in the first season,” he said on a new episode of Jessie. and Lennie Ware’s Table Manners podcast.
“I was trying to get my voice back and I started listening to people and Dermot is a really good instrument for the voice. I said, ‘I want that piece of music, it sounds interesting.'”
Fans of the TV series are desperate to know if there will be another series, after detective director Ian Buckells was branded an H – which divided viewers.
Insiders have stated that the show will return one day – but it could be years away.
“Another series is underway. This is news that millions of fans have been hoping for. A lot of things still need to be agreed on and it will probably take some time. Fans will probably have to wait a few minutes. years before it aired on TV,” a source explained recently.
Co-star Vicky has revealed that the show may return one day.
When asked if the show will make a spectacular comeback, she said Guardian: “I don’t know! I don’t know, no words about it. I think we’ve all been really honest and said that if that happens, we’re all game.
“I’ll just stick with the boys. I think when it’s over, it’ll be a natural ending for all of us.”
Martin also said that the show could return, as he accepted the award on behalf of the cast at the National Television Awards.
“This makes a lot of sense, just like we started as a little Wednesday night show on BBC Two and now we’re the biggest drama on TV and it’s all about the fans, ‘ he said, ‘We really don’t take this for granted and who knows, maybe we’ll come back again.’
