Martin Lewis has apologized for “breaking the rules” as he grilled the Health Secretary over the cost of living.
The MoneySavingExpert star joined Good Morning Britain today alongside Susanna Reid, with the pair discussing the new boost campaign and cost of living crisis with Sajid Javid.
At the end of the conversation, Martin apologized as he “takes off his presentation hat” and “puts on his campaign hat” when he asked the MP how people who rely on electricity use their mobility. their activity or health-supporting device – such as an oxygen tank. machine or electric wheelchair – will be able to cope when the cost of living soars.
Martin asked the Health Secretary, before adding: “You don’t have to give me an answer, it’s not a question.”
But the congressman interrupted to insist he did not want to give an answer. “Yes,” he said, “That’s a very simple answer. Quite possibly, those are some of the most important people in our society and they’re exactly the kind of people we should be. everything we can to help, including from our own department and the NHS.”
As it returned to the set, Martin added: “Thank you and forgive me if I just broke the rules there.”
“You’re forgiven, by the way,” Susanna said quickly, “You’re allowed to have an opinion.”
Martin breathed a sigh of relief as he added: “It’s a call to action. I hope I don’t break some broadcast regulations by doing that and cross the line. But I think it’s very important. .”
Susanna explains how important this topic is, as she reveals the program is flooded with messages from people in similar situations who fear how they will cope when energy prices rise.
Earlier on the show, Martin admitted it was the worst cost of living crisis he’s seen in two decades.
“Where are we now, we’re in the worst position I’ve seen since I started being a Money Saver in 2000 for everyone’s pocketbook. We have to be very careful. Be careful not to put all that on Ukraine’s doorstep because it’s not like that” It’s all Ukraine’s fault – mostly before we got here,” he said.
“And with energy bills tending to rise by £1300 in a year, which is absolutely what’s nailing this more than anything else, people are going to need help or they’re going to have to choose between starve or freeze to death.”
