Martin Lewis gives UK households energy bill tip amid ITV Good Morning Britain plea

martin lewis has provided some helpful advice for those concerned about rising energy bills.

During his appearance, Martin took to Twitter to explain how you can find out how much a device will cost you to operate.

He said: “How to calculate the energy cost of a device:

“1. Find his wattage

“2. Know that 1000 W is one kilowatt (kW).

“3. You pay about 34p per kW per hour

“So a 100W device (one tenth of a kW) for two hours is 3.4p per hour x 2 = 6.8p.”

Martin Lewis on Good Morning Britain

On his Good morning Britain Arriving this morning, Mr Lewis gave his thoughts on the government reports an energy saving campaign excluded.

He said: “The idea of an information campaign is not that it’s a pull campaign that has to get people involved.

“We need a push campaign that gets out there and reaches people with the messages.

“There are a lot of questions I all get, like should I leave the heating on all day or should you only turn it on when you need it.

“It’s a really interesting debate, in short, only leave it on when you need it, although there are certain circumstances to have it on all day.

“There are many things we could do. I’ve made a living from the fact that a lot of people don’t have this information and don’t get it easily.

“We absolutely, if we’re in a position where there’s a risk to energy security, which is a posh way of saying there may have to be power outages this winter, not to go out there and say, here are some simple things, what you can do to reduce your energy consumption, which is good for your wallet, the environment and society, I have a hard time seeing that as patronizing.”
