Martin Lewis is issuing an ‘uncomfortable’ financial warning to couples living together in the UK

Martin Lewis has warned unmarried couples living together across the UK as he urged couples to take action over an ‘awkward’ chat.

That Money Saving Expert The founder and money-saving guru urged couples to take precautions to manage their finances when they die and warned couples to protect themselves from the “3Ds: death, divorce and dementia.”

If couples don’t want to tie the knot, Mr Lewis told couples they should make a will or civil partnership or other contract to legally allow survivors to inherit their partner’s assets legally.

The warning came in Martin Lewis’ latest MSE newsletter He said those who are not married or in a civil partnership do not have inheritance status, meaning people could lose their home and other assets they would inherit.

He said: “The financial and emotional cost to loved ones of ignoring this can be appalling.

“Whether with parents or children, I would encourage you to have a conversation about ‘uncomfortable issues.'”
