MONEY SAVING expert Martin Lewis has issued a holiday warning to Britons who have booked a trip abroad.
The expert gave his advice on ITV’s Money Show Live on how to avoid losing money on holiday cancellations.
He urges families to book travel insurance as soon as they book a vacation – not just before you’re away.
When asked what rights someone has when it comes to canceling their vacation due to unforeseen circumstances, he said: “The answer is you don’t have any.
“The flight is still ongoing and there is nothing wrong with your ticket.
“I asked if they had travel insurance and they said ‘I’ll buy it before I go’.”
Buying travel insurance before your vacation is important, he added, because “a lot of what you can claim can happen before you go on vacation”.
He also said some travel insurance is only around £9 for a week’s holiday in Europe, so there’s no reason not to take any.
