Martin Roberts has to spend another two weeks in hospital while doctors examine the heart condition that left him hours before he died.

The Homes Under The Hammer star, 58, had to undergo emergency surgery after being rushed to hospital with a “massive amount of fluid” around his heart.

The TV presenter faces another fortnight in a ventilator unit where he will undergo further testing.

Speak with The sunMartin said the condition may have started with “a serious lung infection” after telling the media he was being “transferred to the respiratory team” at the Royal United Hospital in Bath.

He added, “I’ll be in the hospital for maybe two more weeks.”

Martin was hospitalized after suffering severe chest pain that left him unable to walk or speak.

After undergoing life-saving surgery, Marin spoke to his fans on social media as he posted a video from his hospital bed explaining what had happened to him.

He said in the video: “I ended up in hospital in Bath yesterday, I was having some chest pains and just feeling nauseous all round, so I was brought here and it turned out I had a huge amount of fluid around my heart, what actually stopped my heart from working.

“Hadn’t they gotten rid of it, which they did in emergency surgery last night, then it’s kinda pretty serious, like living hours, kinda c**p.

“So here I am, still here, thank God, thank God and the angels, all those things.”

In an update since that first video, Martin said he was “terrified and emotionally drained” by the ordeal.

He said: “Firstly, I have been overwhelmed by all the messages of love and support I have received.

“They mean the world to me and help lift my spirits. At one time I feel a bit scared and very emotionally drained like you wouldn’t believe it. Thanks. Thanks.”

He then went on to say that he believes he is on the mend: “The heart problem seems to have stabilized.

“They are now running tests to find out what caused the problem in the first place. Seems that fluid pooling around the heart that nearly killed me was an effect (a fatal one) rather than a cause.”
