TV presenter Martin Roberts has revealed that he plans to return to filming Homes Under the Hammer in a few weeks, after he nearly died in the hospital.
The star spoke to This Morning on Wednesday and confirmed his recovery could take months, and while he is working comfortably, he will be back with the BBC series soon.
Last month, Martin was urgently hospitalized and had to undergo emergency surgery, after chest pain and difficulty breathing.
His condition means he could have hours or minutes to live, after learning fluid build-up around his heart was preventing it from working – with him being diagnosed with an insertion stresses your heart.
Martin was rushed in for surgery and told he could have died from the condition, but he is now cured.
Speaking on This Morning on Wednesday, Martin and wife Kirsty discussed his ongoing recovery and said the health scare was a “reset” for them.
“We said this, I sent a card to Martin when he was discharged from the hospital and I said we have to take this as a fundamental moment,” Kirsty said.
“You’ll have to learn to say no because we both do, we always live at 100 mph and we very rarely stop to smell the roses like Martin said.
“I think it’s times like this that you start to realize what’s important in life. It’s going to take a little bit of adjustment.”
She continued: “Even now in this phase of recovery, Martin feels a bit frustrated that he can’t go back to doing everything that he’s been doing, and I say you know, guys doctor said actually this can take months for you to get back there, and it’s going to be a slow process.”
On his return to Homes Under the Hammer, Martin said: “The team has been really great. I mean take it easy, I’ll start filming again in a couple of weeks, I’ve had 20 years.
“So hopefully I’ll get some nicer properties and they’ll pick the good stuff over the really bad stuff.”
This Morning airs at 10 a.m. weekdays on ITV and ITV Hub.
