Martin Roberts emotionally speaks out about buying supplies for Ukraine

Martin Roberts couldn’t hold back tears as he collapsed in front of Costco, claiming his purchase for Ukrainian refugee children was turned down.

The Homes Under the Hammer star went to the supermarket to buy several bottles of Calpol to send to families fleeing the war-torn country.

However, Martin says when he got to the checkout, his purchase was blocked due to Costco’s strict drug purchasing policy.

In a tearful video outside the store, Martin got very emotional as he revealed how other shoppers came to his aid.

Martin, 58, wept for the camera from the car park and said a number of people lobbied him to ensure all bottles were brought.

Martin Roberts got emotional while speaking about a show of support at Costco after his store went into lockdown

He began: “Listen, just like you, I’m really at a loss as to what I can do to help with what’s going on in Ukraine.

“So I came to Costco and just bought a lot of things like Pampers, kids stuff, tampax and other little things.

“You know, things for children, because it’s the children, you know [they’re] everything,” he stuttered as he struggled to speak.

“So I tried to buy some Calpol and I’m only allowed to buy two, right?

“And I know there’s some kind of sick limit or limit that they’ve imposed that under normal circumstances keeps people from buying a lot of Calpol, because of course…

The TV star wiped away tears and struggled to speak in the emotional video

“So some people in line behind me and some people in line next to me bought four bottles each for me so I could manage to get more.

“And I offered them the money, it was about £10 for four and they wouldn’t take it.

“So there are such good people out there and everyone is trying to do their bit, and if you just give them a way to do it…

“Because we have to do what we can, right?” Martin asked tearfully as he flashed one of the pink bottles.

“Whatever small step you can take to make your contribution, just do it. Because even a few bottles of that might help,” he added.

Martin said he’s just trying to do his bit to help

“So do that for me alright (obviously not for me), do it for her.

“Because actually, if you think about it, hopefully this gets into the mouth of a kid who needs it.

“A homeless kid now wondering what the hell is going on in some refugee camp somewhere.

“Anyway, you get the point. I’m sorry,” Martin apologized before saying goodbye.

In the caption, the TV presenter made a plea to the supermarket giant.

“I wonder if @costco_uk had some collection bins that people could just throw donations in, that would avoid this situation. Help me achieve this,” he pleaded with his followers.
