Evangeline Lilly says Jeremy Renner’s speedy recovery from a fatal snowmobile accident earlier this year was an “instant miracle”.
The US actress says her Marvel co-star was “made out of something really hard” and is coping well despite his “very traumatic” near-death experience.
Renner was crushed by a 6-ton snow excavator while trying to save his grandson near his home near the US state of Nevada-California border.
The actor has updated fans on his recovery so far, revealing that he has broken more than 30 bones in the incident.
Lilly, 43, who co-starred with Renner in the 2008 Oscar-winning film The Hurt Locker, said she recently visited the wheelchair-bound actor at her home
“He’s recovered like a mo-fo,” she told US outlet Access Hollywood.
“I walked into his house and got goosebumps, because I was like, ‘Why are you on the phone? Why are you mobile? What’s happening?’
“I was going to sit by his bed and hold his hand while he groaned in pain and couldn’t move. He was rolling around, laughing with his friends. It was a miracle, a direct miracle.

“He was made of something really tough, that guy. You can always see that in him. He is making an amazing recovery, and I am so grateful.”
Lilly also said that Renner shared intimate details of the accident with her, during which she remained sober.
She told Access Hollywood: “He had a very traumatic near-death experience and he was awake for the whole thing.

“It really stuck with me. It’s been days and I’m still having those moments where some of the things he told me he was going through and told me the story of what happened and the things he could hear and what he can see.
She added: “Now he has a journey to go through. That’s what creates nightmares, and he lived through it and now he’s in the afterlife.”
It comes after Renner recently announced Rennervations his new Disney+ build, and said he’s excited to share the project with fans “as soon as I’m back on my feet”.
