There are big franchise casts, and then there are big franchise cast. Harrison Ford joining the MCU definitely qualifies as the second, putting a nice feather in Kevin Feige’s hat as the “Star Wars,” “Indiana Jones,” and “Blade” star. Runner” can now add superheroes to his legendary profile. Obviously, a man of Ford’s age wouldn’t be expected to do much in the right way (again, though, he yes completed filming on the “Indiana Jones” sequel), but source material suggests Thaddeus Ross plays a similar kind of role for the Thunderbolts anti-hero team as DC’s Amanda Waller for Suicide Squad.
While one can assume Ford will play a lead role in the movie “Thunderbolts,” Sneider reports that he will make his debut as a character in the upcoming “Captain America: New World Order.”
Of course, everyone’s minds would be jolted at the idea of Ford using the kind of motion capture device that Mark Ruffalo and now Tatiana Maslany used to bring their respective Hulk characters to life. After all, Ross becomes the “Red Hulk” in the pages of Marvel Comics. However, Ford’s specific role is played out, and since William Hurt’s presence will be greatly missed, we’re interested to see how this plays out.
“Thunderbolts” will be directed by Jake Schreier (“Robot & Frank,” “Paper Towns”) and is scheduled to hit theaters on July 26, 2024.
