Mary Kennedy enjoys ‘happy’ New Year’s Day with her singer nephew Dermot

Former RTÉ presenter, Mary Kennedy, welcomed the new year by walking with her family with her singer-songwriter grandson, Dermot Kennedy.

His broadcaster, who “officially” announced his retirement in 2019 after working at the station for four decades, posted snapshots of their day on Instagram over the weekend and said : “Happy New Year’s Day!!”

Mary looked as glamorous as ever in a leopard print jacket paired with black boots and a red and navy scarf while Giants singer Dermot wore gray sweatpants and a shirt. gray and yellow walking boots for the occasion.

The hitmaker beamed for the camera as he posed next to his aunt and cousin and carried one of the children on his shoulders.

Mary has previously talked about how their family is “very close” and told how they love to sing a song together.

The 68-year-old even released a Christmas song for charity with his sister Deirdre in 2020, although she mostly left the music to Dermot.

When asked if she would be starring in any of Dermot Kennedy’s upcoming songs, she told the Irish Daily Mirror: “I don’t think so. But we do it at Christmas indoors, we will.

“Ah, we had some lovely songs around their home piano.
