Mary Mara, who is known for her role as Mrs. Sullivan in Ray Donovan, has died after drowning in the St Lawrence River, police have confirmed.

Mary Mara died after drowning, according to the New York State Police.

The actress, known for her role as Mrs. Sullivan on Ray Donovan, was discovered Sunday morning on the St Lawrence River in the town of Cape Vincent, about 90 miles north of Syracuse.

TMZ reports that police soldiers responded to a call for a possible drowning at around 8 a.m. and found a body underwater upon arrival.

It is thought that Mary was visiting her sister and was on the river to exercise.

While her body was sent for an autopsy, preliminary investigations revealed no signs of foul play.

The star’s rep confirmed the sad news with Fox News Digital and told the publication: “Mary is one of the best actresses I’ve ever met. She has a great sense of humor and a unique outlook on life.

“I still remember the first time I saw her on stage in Mad Forest in ’92. She was absolutely captivating, loved and will be missed.”

The Syracuse-born boy graduated from Corcoran High School before attending San Francisco State University and Yale.

She went on to have a successful acting career.

During her career, which spanned more than three decades, Mary has appeared in more than 20 films and 40 television shows, such as West Wing, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, NYPD Blue and Lost.

She also starred as Loretta Sweet in ER and Nance in Shameless, as well as taking on roles on the hit shows Star Trek: Enterprise and Nip/Tuck.

Her final credit, according to IMDB, is a role in the 2020 film Break Even.

Praises began pouring in for the star on social media after the news.

One Twitter user wrote: “So sad. RIP”, accompanied by a prayer emoji.
