A fight breaks out on the train, with teenagers threatening to stab them
A mass brawl broke out on a train last night before a group of teenagers “threatened to stab everyone”.
Footage showed about 10 boys pushing a screaming woman and her partner down the aisle while children cried in the background.
Summer Thomas, 20, filmed the video on a Thameslink train from Brighton to Cambridge at around 10.10pm last night.
She said the youths “threw beer bottles” and shouted “offensive language” at the passengers, before a mother with two children in the carriage asked them to be quiet.
The mother’s partner then allegedly “beat” one of the main instigators in the group after they shouted and verbally abused his wife.
A fight ensued and the two groups were separated, but the situation escalated again when the teenagers “pulled out knives and threatened to stab everyone on the train,” Ms Thomas said.
She told The Mirror: “They were shouting offensive language, calling people the C-word, singing and just picking fights with anybody. They clearly wanted to cause trouble.
“There were two children in the same carriage, one family, so the mother of two children walked over to tell them to be quiet because they were swearing. She said it was really embarrassing and she just wanted to get home peacefully.
“They started yelling at her, calling her the C-word, then her husband came over and slapped the main instigator of the group for swearing at his wife. That’s when I started recording.”
The passengers were frightened at the scene and tried to warn the driver and even stop the train.
Ms Thomas continued: “When I stopped recording, the fight stopped but then they started stabbing everyone on the train and pulling out knives.
“People called the police but no officers showed up. Someone had knocked on the driver’s door. People tried to find the emergency handle but no one could find anything.
“All the boys got off the train at Three Bridges but one couldn’t find his phone and told people they would be stabbed if they had his phone but no one knew where it was.
“It was scary, you don’t really know what’s going to happen at the moment.”
The passenger, who disembarked in East Croydon, shared the footage on social media, writing: “If anyone knows which of these children are on the 10:12pm train from Brighton to Cambridge please let me know and shout out They each and every one of them in person until someone decided to challenge them.”
A UK Transport Police spokesman responded to the tweet by saying they were aware of the incident and a log was being made.
The Mirror have contacted the force and Thameslink for further comment.
