Matt Willis has revealed he doesn’t let his kid go on social media after a photo posted of his son drew some criticism.

Singer Busted’s wife Emma Willis posted a photo of their 10-year-old son Ace wearing a pink shirt, blue jeans and revealing long blonde hair.

But what should have been seen as a sweet family snap has sparked intense discussion among social media users about gender norms.

That led to Matt, 39, saying he doesn’t want his kids – he shares three with Emma – to worry about what people are saying.

Speaking on Sweat, tears and tears podcast, the musician admits: “I just love my son and I let him be whoever he wants to be.

“I don’t understand why you want to dress how you want or how you want your hair to be such a big topic, but it’s something for some people and it really shocked me.”

He continued: “And I think what happened after that really made me go, ‘Yes, stay away from that. [social media]’.

“It really reinforced that for me. I was like, ‘I don’t want you to worry about this right now’.”

TV presenter Emma also revealed that she is still hated for her son’s top choice.

The 46-year-old explains in a new interview with Fabulous magazine that her heart breaks for the fact that society can’t just let children express themselves.

She told the magazine: “Unfortunately, [the hate] still there – both from parents and other children.

“I think it’s probably easier [than it would have been 20 years ago], but it’s still there. That is a shame. It will happen, but the stereotypes that have been ingrained in us years ago are hard to change. “

She has previously revealed that she won’t stop Ace from wearing outfits like his pink shirt even though she wants him “to be him”.

Speaking to The Sun, she said: “I think it’s a really personal, personal thing. You know, my son likes what he likes, and I don’t allow him to express himself or experiment with things. what it likes with clothes.

“I consider it hair as hair, clothes as clothes and color as color. And, you know, if my son wants to wear a pink shirt, I certainly wouldn’t stop him.

“Let the kids explore. Children love to explore. And they don’t just have to explore in the dirt with worms and spiders, they can explore with colors, clothes and hair. I just let them be themselves. .”
