mBryonics, the Galway-based space technology communications company, plans to create an additional 200 jobs as part of a €15 million factory plan

A satellite communications company in Galway run by three siblings plans to create 200 jobs over the next three years as it intends to invest around €15m in a new factory.

ohn Mackey, who co-founded mBryonics with his siblings Ruth and David, said the fast-growing company will have 50 employees by the end of the year and add another 200 thereafter.

He said his new Galway facility is a “factory of the future” focused on optics and photonics technologies for space satellites.

John said the company is close to commercializing its technology, which it has developed for eight years as mBryonics and over ten years as part of the Applied Optics Group at NUI Galway.

“Things are pretty much set at this point,” he said. “It’s incredibly exciting.”

In 2020, mBryonics announced three separate contracts with the European Space Agency to support the development of satellite solutions for telecommunications.
