That’s what McDonald’s announced It will increase the cost of some menu items as it increases the cost of the 99p cheeseburger for the first time in years.
In a statement from CEO Alistair Macrow, he cited “incredibly challenging times” for the price range and said the company and franchisees are feeling the cost of rising inflation.
McDonald’s said: “This summer our restaurants will add between 10p and 20p to a range of dishes hardest hit by inflation. Starting today, we’re raising the price of our cheeseburger for the first time in over 14 years. Take it from 99p to £1.19.
“Some prices will remain unaffected, and some will continue to vary across our restaurants. We understand that price increases are not good news, but we have delayed and minimized these changes for as long as possible. We will continue to listen to what you expect from us and work tirelessly to find solutions to today’s cost challenges affecting our business.”
McDonald’s customers have taken to social media to anger the news, with one stressing that it is the “last straw” as the chain changes prices.
However, it added that it hadn’t changed the prices of items that didn’t need it. The Wrap range, for example, remains at £1.99. The chicken mayo burger and salads also remain the same.
