Mediahuis Ireland creates COO and Editor-in-Chief roles under new management structure


The new CEO of Mediahuis Ireland, Peter Vandermeersch, has announced this

a series of management changes at the Irish company, including new appointments as Chief Operations Officer (COO) and Editor-in-Chief.

The changes come as part of a handover from outgoing CEO Marc Vangeel, who will return to the group’s Belgian headquarters in September.

A new three-person Executive Committee will be created at the media group’s Irish office, comprising CEO Peter Vandermeersch, Group Finance Director Stephen Harton and Ian Keogh, currently CEO of Reach Group’s sales division, who will be promoted to the new role of Chief Operations Officer ( COO).

As part of the planned changes, a new leadership team will report directly to the Executive Committee.

It also includes Cormac Bourke, currently publisher of and Irish Independent, in a new position as Editor-in-Chief of the group’s newspaper titles, whilst remaining publisher of and Irish Independent.

The senior management team also includes Mary Gallagher, Company Secretary, taking on an expanded role as Director of Business Support; Frank Lehane, current Head of Finance at Newsspread, who will become Managing Director of the Reach Group, as well as Gerry Lennon (Commercial Director), Ed McCann (Head of Publishing, previously Deputy Publisher), Henry Minogue (Chief Technology Officer), Richard Morgan (Chief People Officer), Sheena Peirse (Chief Customer Officer), Karen Preston (Chief Commercial Officer), Ross Conlon (Group Director of New Business Ventures) and Joris Winters (Digital Director), who will all formally meet to report back to them the Executive Committee weekly.
