I started Klott in the middle of the global pandemic with just £1400 in my bank account and no plan B. I did it because I had built my own personal brand and when people started asking me for tips and advice to grow theirs, I started sharing that information online – and my audience growth skyrocketed.
By sharing tips and tricks I filled a gap that was so obvious. So I founded an agency for personal branding – Klott.
I think personal branding is misunderstood. People think it’s an ego-driven activity, but actually it’s a strategic marketing must if you want to stand out. Because who doesn’t want to attract amazing people, win incredible clients?
Accelerating the growth of your business feels great! It feels great to be recognized as an authority in your field. Or the leader of choice. The company that all other companies want to be.
This is how all “branding” should be.
But eventually companies and people got lost, corporate jargon took over and everything became vanilla. Brands – both companies and people – have lost their personality. And marketing gurus and agencies just let it happen. So Klowt is a rebellion against it.
Against the sea of sameness we see online – helping people tell their personal stories at scale. Helping people organically build communities and relationships with hundreds of thousands of people. In short, Klowt builds fully authentic personal brands online that help create the opportunities leaders and businesses need to thrive.
How did you come up with the idea for the company?
What makes us unique is that the company was born to solve a problem that I felt needed to be solved. I think the best companies do that. It was organic, very fluid – I didn’t intentionally choose to start an agency and then grow my audience around it.
I’ve randomly expanded my audience and then people ask me how they could pay me to help them expand their audience. I am a practitioner. I have my own personal brand and everything we do for clients I have already done and proven to be effective. I think that’s something a lot of agencies just don’t have.
How has the company developed in recent years?
We only started in August 2020 and to be honest when we started I just wanted to pay my bills. Now we are a team of 9 that has outgrown 2 offices and has 23 regular clients.
The growth has been crazy, but we’re not slowing down. I want Klowt to be synonymous with personal branding like Apple is synonymous with phones or Coca Cola is synonymous with soda. And I won’t stop until we get there.
What can we expect from Klott in the future?
As I’ve said before, I have a razor-sharp vision of where I want the business to go, and while I’m very impatient with this endeavor, I know we’ll get there. I want to be the go-to agency for all things personal branding. PR, websites, speaking engagements, social media, podcasts—everything. We’re making strides in all of these areas, and it doesn’t hurt that we work with incredible clients too.
