Meet Lior Shacham, CEO and Co-Founder of AI Caller Software Company: PicUP

You’ve got your phone next to you right now, and I bet readers are probably reading this on their phones too. We get messages, notifications, and emails all the time, but people tend to forget that this thing — their cell phone — is first and foremost a phone. Phone calls come in too… but sometimes we choose not to answer.
The technology has come so far in the past few years. Everything is so digital, designed, branded and personalized. Businesses and organizations try so hard to get your attention, so isn’t it weird that phone calls look the same as they did 20 years ago?
At PicUP we have an ambitious vision to change the look and feel of calls. The current experience of an incoming, unidentified phone call from an organization is intrusive and uncomfortable, and the voice-only interaction is dated.
We’re changing that. PicUP’s technology adds a personalized digital layer to the incoming call, allowing the caller to let the recipient know who is calling and why. It does this with a beautifully crafted message, engaging and efficient digital interactions between the agent and the customer before, during and even after the call.
How did you come up with the idea for the company?
We noticed that the phone channel is broken. Unknown calls from companies are intrusive and inefficient. We understood that we could develop technology that would help add a digital layer to the incoming call screen for recipients and completely transform the calling experience.
With our digital calling technology, you can see your doctor or bank calling – their logo is right in front of you. Before you pick up, you’ll see an image of the caller on your screen and details of why they’re calling. You can also click the “Call Later” button to reschedule and click another button to convert to chat or sign forms while you speak. It is the complete modernization of the phone calling experience.
How has the company developed in recent years?
Vodafone was the first leading brand to recognize that this is the future of telephony. You were one of our previous clients; We started our journey with them.
Now we work with some of the largest telecom companies and financial institutions in Europe. PicUP is currently installed on over 25 million devices, helping millions of customers get better calls from their service providers.
What can we expect from PicUP in the future?
We are building a platform that can serve almost any company in the world. We’re working hard to build a future where business-to-customer calls become digital calls that combine voice with layers of visuals.
I’m confident that digital calling, powered by our technology, will be the new standard for next-generation calling.
