After weeks of intense competition, this week six chefs will compete for the title of MasterChef: The Professionals 2022.
agar, Charlie, Owen, James, Wilson and Nikita have made it to the final round of the BBC’s prestigious cooking show after 32 aspiring chefs from around the country embarked on their journey.
In the kitchen, they will face off against judges Marcus Wareing, Gregg Wallace and Anna Haugh.
Episodes will air on Tuesdays and Thursdays with the 2022 winner crowned on Sunday.
– Who are the finalists?
Sagar, 24 years old, born in India, from Glasgow, is a senior sous chef who used to work at the Michelin-starred Martin Wishart Restaurant in Edinburgh and now works at The Rabbit in Troon.
He said his family inspired him to cook, his mother stayed at home and his father worked as a cook.
“My cooking style is influenced by my childhood food memories in India and my parents’ food,” says Sagar.
He added: “One day, I want to own my own high-end restaurant serving Indian inspired food using Scottish produce. If possible, I would also like to open a restaurant in India!”
Charlie, from London, is a senior chef who has worked at the Michelin-starred Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester for the past 5 years.
The 24-year-old started working as a pot wash in the Yalbury Cottage hotel in Dorset, where he grew up and was later taught to cook.
He said: “I could never repay Jamie and the Yalbury family for what they taught me.

“Both chefs in my career have greatly influenced and guided me, and my family has supported and inspired my success.”
Owen, 25, from Gwynedd, Wales, is a sous chef at the Penmaenuchaf Hotel and has worked in restaurants since the age of 15.
He describes his style as “modern British with different flavors from around the world, such as French, Thai and Spanish” and “never imagined I would was selected to the final”.
James, 34, from Tiverton in Devon will soon start a new job at The Galley restaurant in Topsham as head chef.
“I get a little nervous when it comes to work,” he said, “and I find chefs like that really inspiring.”
British and Portuguese Wilson, who lives in London, was a senior sous chef at the time of filming and now has ambitions to open his own restaurant.
The 30-year-old chef, who trained to be an architect while working at a restaurant in Portugal, prompted him to transfer to a cooking school.
He describes his food as “French influence, Mediterranean and African heritage”.
Nikita from London is working at the Michelin-starred W8 Kitchen and was recently promoted to junior sous chef.
The 25-year-old has never considered hospitality a career because her family is “very academic” but she decided to do something she “loves” so she apprenticed, working at the Lanesborough Hotel.
Nikita said she joined “partially” to help her mother get out of her “case” and that it was “absolutely amazing and terrifying” to have made it into the final week.
The final week of MasterChef: The Professionals airs at 8pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and ends at 6:15pm on Sundays, on BBC One and iPlayer.
