Meet Sam Bates, CMO at Web3 Innovation Company: Amplify

Amplify was founded in February 2022 after Chapel, Web3’s live music company, acquired the music smartlinking startup, which I founded.

The post-acquisition business – now called Amplify – allows us to redouble’s original mission and leverage new Web3 technologies to enable artists to thrive in the modern music industry. It gives them the opportunity to earn long-lasting income from live performances after the performances are over using DeFi (decentralized financial instruments powered by blockchain technology).

Our mission is to build a bridge between Web 2.0 and Web 3.0. We want to empower artists to earn more while building sustainable businesses around their music, own their data and connect with their audiences like never before. We put artists at the center of everything we do and want to enable them to earn forever.

How did you come up with the idea for the company?

I started developing the original idea for in early 2016 while working with an independent music artist through my original digital agency business. They wanted a more effective way to share and market their music online; was my answer to that. Finally, the software enabled artists to engage with their fans, increase revenue, and promote their content with our customizable landing pages, microsites, and analytics.

Following the acquisition, Amplify’s uniqueness comes from combining the innovation in our existing software to connect artists with their fans and the potential that Web3 unlocks to foster that relationship and allow artists to do more with their live -Earn shows. We are very excited about the opportunities we have to continue to help artists.

How has the company developed in recent years?

It has grown tremendously since its conception. Today, 87,000 artists and creators use our software to connect with their audiences. Over 26 million fans have been connected to artist content through and it has been used in every country except North Korea.

Several well-known artists have used to connect with their audiences, including Darkoo, whose track and music video Gangsta racked up over 25 million views on YouTube and signed a record deal with Atlantic Records. American rapper and actor Joey Bada$$ also used to wow his audience.

From the beginning, we’ve constantly innovated and iterated, adding new features and tools, including customizable landing pages for smart links, analytics, and more.

What can we expect from Amplify in the future?

We have some really exciting announcements very soon that will showcase our commitment to helping artists succeed and earn more. We’re hiring to expand the team as the company grows and we’ll be releasing a roadmap that’s very clear on what we’re planning to do and how we’re going to do it.

The future of Amplify is all about putting artists at the heart of what we do and empowering them to earn more, forever. We will do this by combining the tools we have developed so far with new Web3 technology, including DeFi and NFTs. There’s a lot of change ahead!
