How did you come up with the idea for the company?

I’ve worked in technology and innovation my entire career. Being in an environment of faster paced advertising and then internet related technologies was what drew me more to what I studied in college – architecture.

During that phase of my career, I’m often involved in the creative/production process – in the traditional advertising sense or tech product development. A big part of any role I’ve taken on has been sourcing and working with freelancers. I myself have been a freelancer for several stages in my career.

And that is where YunoJuno comes from. The simplest way to describe a zero to one story is that we are the product of two observations and a hunch.

The first observation is that around the world, freelance work is on the rise. Many individuals have chosen freelance as a career option, and many organizations have chosen to hire freelancers to work on their most important projects because it makes strategic and economic sense to them.

The second observation is that despite this dramatic change in freelance employment, the change was not accompanied by an equally drastic change in how the two groups connect. It’s all still very manual, inefficient, indistinct and very expensive.

Our hunch is that technology can and should play a part in developing this connection. To make it a more meaningful connection is based on direct and transparent skills and experience matching requirements.

And in making that connection, the same technology will facilitate getting the job done with as little stress as possible. I E. Let the people with the job get what they need for their projects and the skilled people focus on their work.

My co-founders and I started building YunoJuno and solved as many of the problems we faced as freelancers or renters as we could.

How has the company evolved during the Pandemic?

I believe the change to Freelancing is the industrial revolution equivalent to our time. Then the Covid pandemic hit and the whole world had to rethink how life went on in the most normal way possible. A large part of this reflection revolves around work – from how projects and activities continue to be delivered, to team members staying connected while in lockdown, to reassessing needs. physical presence in the office.

As the initial downtown subsides and organizations seem to recover into a ‘new normal’, it becomes imperative to choose a more agile approach to a company’s workforce. design and YunoJuno is the first stop for companies of all sizes – from established brands to emerging technologies, from FTSE 100 companies to startups. During the pandemic, our network of elite, vetted and recruited freelancers has grown to 70,000 and 12,000 respectively.

Also during the pandemic, the UK government has chosen to implement the largest tax reform for private industry, in IR35. Organizations need to take compliance more seriously in this field than ever before, and YunoJuno invested heavily in the years before IR35’s rollout to give both freelancers and organizations peace of mind in the process. this time. All of this has resulted in record growth in 2021 as we see the business grow more than 100% with new clients winning like Google, BBC and
