Meet VASCO, Starfield’s peaceful robotic companion

A new video from Bethesda has taken a closer look at VASCO, the first Starfield companion to be revealed.

VASCO is an expeditionary robot in the service of Constellation, identified by its white and red livery. Based on a two-legged chassis, VASCO is designed to aid in extended cross-country cruising and is fitted with components to aid in carrying survival gear and payloads.

Starfield lead artist Istvan Pely says that VASCO is a peaceful robot but “has defensive capabilities should the need arise”. The concept art featured in the video suggests that Vasco’s right arm houses some sort of rifle, and a square box on his shoulder could perhaps be some sort of launcher.

Pely describes VASCO as “a dependable companion that an intrepid explorer like you can count on” and “a serviceable, heavy industrial machine well suited to the rigors of space travel”.
