Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were seen leaving Clarence House after meeting Prince Charles at his London residence this morning, it has been claimed.
The Sussexes were reportedly spotted leaving his home just before the National Service of Thanksgiving on Friday morning.
After they left, they were not long after followed by the Prince of Wales and Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall.
Clarence House and Buckingham Palace have declined to comment on reports the Queen has already met the couple’s daughter Lilibet.
but vanity fair Harry and Meghan reportedly met with Charles ahead of the service, which the Queen had to sit out.
Royal commentator Omid Scobie, one of the authors of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s biography Finding Freedom, said the monarch could have met her namesake, who turns one on June 4, in person for the first time last night.
It was initially thought that the Queen had finally met Lilibet, but Mr Scobie clarified: “Regarding meeting Lilibet, I simply said after Trooping ‘would have been the first chance’ as both the Queen and the Sussexes were after Windsor returned.”
The news comes as the Queen celebrates the second day of her platinum jubilee today, culminating in a thanksgiving service at St Paul’s Cathedral attended by senior royals and politicians.
Other family members are also expected to be in attendance, including Prince Harry and Meghan, followed by a reception at the Guildhall.
Mr Scobie told BBC Breakfast: “I think people are expecting some kind of big extravagant birthday event, which we’ll be seeing photos of. From what I’ve been told we shouldn’t expect anything.
“These moments with Lilibet are very private between you and the Queen and of course we know how much she was looking forward to it.
“They have been held back by a pandemic. Of course, during the times Harry was here, he was only alone on rather somber occasions. And that was really the first time.
“Of course we know the Queen returned to Windsor Castle yesterday, the couple have also returned to Windsor where they are staying at Frogmore Cottage.”
